HOW INCREASING BANDWIDTH PROMOTES BUSINESS RESILIENCE

Case study – Taylor Wessing

The Business Problem

Successful law firm Taylor Wessing has an increasingly large amount of data running through its networks. To ease growing demand they needed a cutting-edge optical fibre network which would give them the high speed connectivity they needed now and for the decade ahead.

They were also looking for a diverse data and voice route to ensure ongoing business resilience. And they wanted everything to be delivered at a reasonable cost.

“As a busy European law firm we’re increasingly producing a large amount of data as well as transporting it over the internet and in between offices. The bulk of our communication with clients is also now online and we’re providing more and more online services to them. We therefore needed a robust, high speed network to carry and manage all that information. We also identified that we couldn’t run our business effectively using standard connectivity to our data centres – it could be a potential bottleneck. That’s why the only suitable option was fibre.”

Tim Hyman. IT Director, Taylor Wessing

Taylor Wessing chose Geo because we were one of the few companies who could deliver the end to end fibre network solution they needed – quickly and cost effectively.

Working collaboratively with Taylor Wessing we designed, built and delivered a dedicated fibre optic network between their new London offices in EC4 and their central London

Data Centre. All delivered on time and within budget.

Geo’s solution massively increased capacity with relatively little disruption – providing dedicated fibre carrying a 10Gbps connection with the ability to upgrade to 50Gbps if required.

As well as giving them all the speed they will ever need they also now have a more secure, reliable and resilient network thanks to the use of our unique city network running deep through London’s sewer system.

The Benefits

With dedicated fibre, Taylor Wessing now has all the flexibility and scalability they need to future proof their network. And they’re confident their new optical network and data centre links will give the company at least ten years of extra data and voice capacity.

Tim Hyman, IT Director, Taylor Wessing feeds back on geo:

“Geo offered us a really compelling solution. They provide us with a dedicated pair of fibres, over which we currently run a 10Gbps connection – however we could easily raise that to 50Gbps should the business require it.

We’re essentially future proofed and can massively increase our capacity with relatively little disruption thanks to Geo’s fibre.”
