Geo.Consultancy – are you well connected?
Today the value of commercial property is directly related to the quality of the infrastructure at its disposal. While transport may top most people’s list, the availability of high quality data network infrastructure is now a crucial determinant for commercial property investors. The viability of buildings proposed for heavy data use can be established through a fibre survey.
Geo provides an expert fibre locating consultancy service. Our reports are totally independent, and employ advanced mapping tools to provide a comprehensive assessment of the current availability of fibre optic cable infrastructure in a given location.
Our experienced infrastructure planners can also assess the costs of improving existing data network assets and their suitability for specific business functionality. This service is provided to the commercial property market, their clients and investors.
Geo offers two types of survey:
- Desktop Survey (using Geo’s Geographical Information System)
- Field Survey (a more in-depth survey)
Desktop Survey
The objective of the Desktop Survey is to provide a go/don’t go decision based on the general availability of network infrastructure in the geographic area of interest, along with likely cost and timescale for connectivity.
This survey report includes the following:
- GIS report of area including existing fibre network infrastructure
- Information on proximity of location to backbone fibre infrastructure
- Estimation of likely connection cost of location to backbone exploring diverse and non-diverse schemes
- Likely lead times for delivery
Field Survey
The objective of the Field Survey builds on the deliverables from the Desktop Survey. It establishes the physical presence of infrastructure, potential delivery risks, supply availability and security of supply. The data solutions available from service providers are also established.
This survey report includes the following:
- Confirmed location of infrastructure in the vicinity of the site and likely supply availability from providers
- Investigation of all connectivity routes to establish associated risks
- Indication of likely data solutions available including: Ethernet, IP services including QoS-based services like MPLS, wavelength solutions, dedicated fibre
