Operations Infrastructure Manager
(job title to be confirmed)
Vision
An experienced and tenacious manager who has the ability to combine commercial, financial and relationship management skills to maintain Geo’s network infrastructure and services to exacting standards, via an outsourced services arrangement. Acting as an ambassador for the company at all times, leading a culture of positive ownership and accountability, encouraging creativity and responsibility in problem solving
Principal Accountabilities
- Management and maintenance of the outsourced operational model which is responsible for all aspects of Geo’s fibre & facilities network infrastructure, and Geo’s bespoke customer transmission & transport solutions;
- Responsible for Infrastructure lifecycle management, including delivery of a program of network improvement initiatives within budget;
- Operational owner for key supplier contracts and relationships, acting as a point of escalation for the resolution of day to day vendor / supplier issues;
- Responsible for ensuring our supply chain maintains Geo’s reputable status as a Code operator, by making sure they adhere to all regulatory processes and procedures (NRSWA, the Code etc.)
- Successfully managing the network operations budget by actively seeking creative and innovative solutions to maximise budgetary resources;
- Maintenance and ongoing development of key operational processes and systems to maximise efficiency;
- Management of both internal KPIs and customer related SLAs to ensure compliance from all parties;
- Form part of an out of hours on-call management escalation rota;
- Working with Cross functional peers in support of new business providing input into key stages of new business acquisition;
Health & Safety
The Fibre Infrastructure Manager is the process ‘owner’ for H&S within the Operations environment ensuring the outsourced contractor does the same. Areas of responsibility & accountabilities are:-
- Ensuring alignment of their process with strategic objectives
- Ensuring that their process is fit for purpose or adapt to ensure it is fit for purpose
- Developing their process and being alert to end-of-life planning or reinvention
- Ensuring on-going monitoring and analysis to confirm that the process is applied as designed and is effective
- Ensuring corrective action and / or improvements are applied
- Managing related accidents or incidents affecting areas of ownership
- Production of and adherence to, high quality project documentation within the Geo project management system in line with our ISO 9001 and ISO 18001 (Health & Safety) processes
- Ensuring the provision of adequate training and awareness
Other Responsibilities
- Support the project & bid teams as required to achieve the Business Objectives
- Support the Head of Operations as part of the Operations Management team
- Line management of the Network Support Specialist
Key Skill and Experience Requirements
- Extensive experience in the Telecommunications industry with a proven record of accomplishment in an operational environment.
- Background in supporting fibre transmission infrastructure and transport solutions ideally in an outsourced environment, including appropriate qualifications in a related area.
- Background in a revenue orientated fault management department.
- Able to demonstrate the initiative and tenacity to drive forward solutions and adapt to business needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisation skills
- Analytical approach to problem solving.
- Accountability orientated.
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation (desirable)
